Why HawaiianLinks.com?

While searching for various interests in Hawaiian culture we found many informative and rich cultural sites offered by many dedicated people and organizations. We did not find a portal type site that could point to every area of interest in Hawaiian culture, traditional and contemporary.
Also the internet is evolving so fast that a site that would help the Hawaiian community surf and utilize the benefits of the web, in addition to offering a directory of cultural resources, would be of great value. That is our goal with HawaiianLinks.com. We will try to keep the commercial content away and try to organize information that will make cultural resources easy to find, and provide up-to -date information on the fast growing features of the rest of the world wide web.

Who Are We?

We are Donn and Nece DeShayne. We have lived on the islands for 30 years, mostly on Maui. We have four children from six to twenty four years old. We have lived the last 18 years in Wailuku. Nece has danced hula for more than 20 years. Through the dance and our childrens' activities we have been blessed to know many 'local' friends and their families, introducing us to the precious nature of Hawaiian culture. In a sense, HawaiianLinks.com is a thank you.
Our family business has been painting and selling women's clothing at the swap meet and crafts fairs. About three years ago we began screenprinting women's tee shirts with lei designs (see kapua website). The enthusiastic acceptance of our designs by local women made us aware of the far flung Hawaiian community across the mainland as well as on the islands. This eventually led us to the internet and its value in bringing together those who hold the Hawaiian culture dear. We hope that HawaiianLinks.com will be of value to you.

Mahalo for your support.
